Thanks to Dan and his team for assisting on Monday 18th March. We felled the remainder of the trees marked up on the H&S walk but to our surprise found another cluster of windblown trees over the path since we cleared it only just over a week ago. This was just up a bit from the first 'zig-zag' path that Dan's team built. There must have been around 8 - 10 down over the path, we cleared what we could but there are a few difficult ones remaining, although the path is clear, for now.
We also cleared a few more trees up on the pan handle, the area now requires a small morning working party to sort and tidy the brash. There is some good light coming through, so we may see some new coppice growth this season.
I helped myself to some timber to make two small stools for my daughters, hopefully photos to follow if all goes well.
If you're walking in the woods pay attention to the standing dead/rotting trees - you can easily spot where the woodpeckers have been drilling into them!
Hello All
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that all the tree safety work has been completed?
I may have a wander around this weekend to check all the pink crosses have gone!!
I can then update the records from the safety day.
Jon
I think all the recently marked trees are down, there a old ones marked up and new ones blown down. It's like chasing your tail!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy
ReplyDeleteI will have a quick check anyway, any excuse the walk the hounds!
If ok I will update the forms.
Cheers
Jon
